Being rich quote on Amaryllis petals

I had a amaryllis bulb given to me and it bloomed beautiful! I thought it would be nice to dry/press a couple of petals - well that turned out to be a brown disaster. I could see the veins in the petal so with Photoshop I added some color and this meaningful quote. Please go the my Rustic Pixel Background blog for the petals to use as a background if you wish.

I'll Play A Tune For You! Bees Wax Collage

This is done using natural beeswax. It gave it a sepia look when done. I tore each diamond then gilded each piece with gold before adhering to a canvas.
I apologize for the hazy look on these photos - I think it's because of the beeswax.

I ripped diamond shapes from a early 1900 Etude music magazine.
A close up of the pendant I made. I couldn't resist using this piece from the Etude magazine.
I painted it in a sepia color and while still wet I stamped it with a musical note. Had this canvas at our local gallery this fall. Total project took approximately 15 hours and oh my my studio was smelling pretty honey!

7 Gypsy box top collage

I needed another box for some of my pendant materials. So I quickly covered the top of this 7 Gypsy box. After it was done I came up with a list for myself of things to keep in mind when doing my next one:
  • Stay with a color scheme.
  • Have one very beautiful or interesting focal point.
  • Use sheet music to unify it all or use fluid acrylics by Golden.
  • Add just a little bling, on this one I did a dotted line around oval of flowers.
  • Add some text.

More Glass Pendants

I enjoyed making more of these pendants, this time adding some beads etc to the bottom. I like hanging these from the switch on lamps. You then know exactly where to reach for the switch!
